We have done:

Legolas
Saruman
Lurtz
Gandalf
Sharku

Once upon a time, Roman asked me if I'd be willing to go through each of the decks once they've been finalized, to revise/edit card text so that they match wording conventions found in the Hasbro decks. Is this still something that needs to be done? If so, I'm still on board. But, I will need to see finalized text versions of the decks so I know what I'm working with. In some of the threads it's a little unclear what the finalized version of each deck is, and I know that there are still several decks in testing mode. What would be handy is one large text document that has all the decks listed with all the talent card wordings. Then I can just go through and edit that large document. Or, if there is already a location of all the finalized text version, just let me know where to find them.

We absolutely still need this done. I could put a thread together but I think it might be easier if you just go through the individual threads. The first post of every thread is updated with the latest version of the deck, so that should make them easy to find.

Roman, it might be good to make a thread where you just post. Which decks are next up on the plate for wording editing. THen Scott can reply saying he has edited with corrections. Then I can come in after scott and Robert and I can finalize the images.

Does that sound like a plan?

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you suggested, but let's use this thread, post decks one at a time, and move on after each deck is finalized.

Let's start with:

QUOTE
Legolas
Health 13
Deck Orange

Talent Cards (6)

3x Competition: A3*, if the last card played was Competition, playing this card does not count as an action.

2x Bow of the Galadhrim: A5, after attacking, move Legolas up to 5 spaces.

1x Side By Side: Move Gimli adjacent to Legolas. Playing this card does not count as an action.

Gimli
Health 14
Deck Minor Blue

Talent Cards (5)

3x Competition: A3*, if the last card played was Competition, attack value is 6.

1x My Axe is Notched: A7, if target is destroyed, draw 3 cards.

1x Pick a Better Spot: Either Gimli or Legolas may exchange places with any ally.

Shared Talent Cards (1)

1x Keeping Score: A3/D3* *Add 1 to the attack and defense value for each Competition card you have played this game.

Actually, I think KEEPING SCORE should be each COMPETITION that has been played, not necessarily those in your draw pile. If there's a better way to word that, that's my preference.

This sounds good. I'm just going to simply list each card with only the new text. Below I'll put the justification for any changes in italics.

QUOTE
3x Competition: A3, If the last card played was Competition, playing this card does not count as an action.

Here's a prime case of an unnecessary asterisk.  There is no change to the combat resolution, so even though there's an "if/then" conditional, it doesn't need an asterisk.  Dark Side Drain is the best example.  The Hasbro decks are admittedly inconsistent on this (Kyber Dart has an asterisk and it doesn't need one).  So, if you *really* want one so that it matches Gmili's Competition, go ahead, but it's unnecessary.

2x Bow of the Galadhrim: A5, After attacking, you may move Legolas up to 5 spaces.

Added "you may" to match Jedi Attack word for word.

1x Side By Side: Move Gimli to any empty space adjacent to Legolas. Playing this card does not count as an action.

Added "to any empty space" to avoid confusion.

Gimli
Health 14
Deck Minor Blue

Talent Cards (5)

3x Competition: A3*, *If the last card played was Competition, the attack value of this card is 6.

Here the asterisk is required, because there is an alteration in combat resolution, namely the attack value.  I also added a bit of verbage to match Justice more closely.

1x My Axe is Notched: A7*, *After attacking, if you destroy the defending character, draw 3 cards.

Here the asterisk is optional, but since it is essentially an A7 Kyber Dart, I went with that wording exactly.

1x Pick a Better Spot: Exchange spaces between either Gimli or Legolas and any ally.

I used Royal Command with Legolas replacing "The Emperor" and then added "either Gimli".  I think it works.  It should also allow Gimli and Legolas to exchange places...right?

Shared Talent Cards (1)

1x Keeping Score: A3/D3*, *Add 1 to the attack or defense value for each Competition card that has been played this game.

I removed the "you have played" part, since no decks seem to have that style of wording and added the "or".  And here, the asterisk is required, since the combat value will change depending on certain conditions.

How does this exclude competition cards played from previous turns?

I.e. last card was competition previous turn, no cards have been played since. I think you need to insert "this turn" somewhere.

the pick a better spot wording comes across as awkawrd but i have no way to improve it.

I don't think it should.

Yup, I'm thinking you can power up COMPETITION that way.

Let's just limit the card to Gimli's use. It's his card. He can exchange places with anyone, and that includes Legolas, but Legolas can't exchange places with anyone besides Gimli.

If you want Competition to last over several turns, we will need some clarification, and Roman mentioned the issue with defense cards early on in the Legolas/Gimil thread. So, we either need clarification on the card itself, or in an FAQ. As worded, I think it achieves Roman's desired result, but it is a little unclear, especially if you are stretching it over successive turns and a defense card is played. I might suggest the following clarification to fix it:

QUOTE
3x Competition: A3, If the card played on your last action was COMPETITION, playing this card does not count as an action.

3x Competition: A3*, *If the card played on your last action was COMPETITION, the attack value of this card is 6.

I think this will clarify what happens between turns when a defense card is played (because playing one isn't using an action), but I would recommend putting this in an FAQ where it is clarified that it is the last action taken, regardless of turn. We could add "regardless of turn" after "last action" on the card text itself, but I don't think we need to. Even if Legolas' card triggers a non-action, it will only do so if a previous COMPETITION was played, which means any COMPETITION'S played after Legolas' triggered non-action are still valid. The only downside with using "actions" instead of "card played" is that now, you can squeeze a Side-By-Side card in the midst of the Competition combo, because it also doesn't count as an action. If that is undesirable, then I think the whole Competition mechanic needs to be redesigned, or at least reconsidered. I agree with Doc's suggestion, making it only valid during 1 turn is the easiest fix.

As for Pick A Better Spot, since it's only Gimili's card, then let's go with the following wording:

QUOTE
1x Pick a Better Spot: Exchange spaces between Gimli and any ally.

This is Royal Command, word for word, except with "ally" instead of "Crimson Guard."

Consider this...

Legolas' Version
3x Competition: A3*, *If COMPETITION is on top of your discard pile, the attack value of this card is 6.

Gimli's Version
3x Competition: A4*, *If COMPETITION is on top of your discard pile, the attack value of this card is 6.

I chose to up Gimli to A4 for two reasons:
1. He is a melee character and does not have the ranged advantage of the Elf.
2. You have now lost the ability to play this card and get the bonus if a defense card (or even a discard) occurs during another player's turn.

Also...This effect clarifies the card so that there are no questions about it. COMPETITION is either on top of the discard pile, or it is not. There is no gray area.

I am borrowing heavily from the Transformers Hot Shot character's card for this revision of COMPETITION;

QUICK SHOT; A2*
*Show your hand to all players.
Add 2 to the attack vlaue for every
other QUICK SHOT card in your hand.

You may consider keeping both cards for Gimli and Legolas differentiated as above and go with this;

Legolas Version
3X COMPETITION A2*
For each COMPETITION card in
your hand you choose to reveal,
add 2 to the atttack value of
this card.

Gimli Version
3X COMPETITION A3*
For each COMPETITION card in
your hand you choose to reveal,
add 2 to the atttack value of
this card.

Or you can keep the cards identical as A3 or A2, if you wish.

Your current build has 6 competition cards in it. Quick Shot has 7 at the Atk 2 value PLUS he has the following card to recycle those back into his draw pile;

3x JOLT - Flight
You may move Hot Shot to any empty
space. Draw 2 cards. You may then
shuffle your discard pile into your
draw pile.

Legolas & Gimli are unable to recycle their cards but they have two figures to attack from AND I have not added the penalty of reavealing your hand that QUICK SHOT originally comes with. What do you think?
